What a wonderful program if it actually worked.
Wow how aggravating!
The advocates don't know a lot about the positions.
When you try to find information out they withhold it from you.
They have attitudes and make it very difficult to work with.
You can sign up for a program and at any time they can just stop it. So if you're wanting to jump into what your second choice program would be you miss that date. who knows how long you have to wait until another time comes around to be able to get into that program. Or the original program that you wanted to be in.
You can't get a direct answer on whether something in the medical field is going to require you to get a covid injection. I wanted something in the medical field and couldn't get the advocate to just give me a yes or no answer on if they would require a vaccine or not. That should be a cut and dry answer either yes or no super simple!!
This program might be free but you definitely pay for it in the stress and aggravation of trying to even get into a class.
They make it sound so great at the beginning but once you're into it you see all the messed up stuff about this that you don't see when you're first signing up.

Great Jobs Kansas City could actually help like their grant says they will. I was not helped getting a job whatsoever and was unemployed for a long time with no help. No one actually took the time to help me find a job except Karen but she only stepped in because my advisor was horrible. Me and my brother enrolled in KC Scholars and both received no adequate help. Horrible, would not recommend what so ever, if you're going to help people get an education and find a job that's what you do, KC scholars gets a grant for just that and I received nothing that was supposed to be given. A total waste of my time and energy as well, run!

This might be a long one but here it goes… I attended and completed my 4 workshops in which we were told during our workshops to follow up with our advocate. I had attempted to contact my advocate(Antionette) but after several voicemails and emails, I had to contact the main office and say I couldn’t reach her(left it on voicemail, no one to actually speak with). Then she reaches out to me after that to speak about my options and classes. Never once apologizing about not getting back to me.(ol well) So we discussed my options and I got back with her via email about which class I would be able to do. About 2 weeks before the class starts, I reach out again via email and explain that I hadn’t received any login information. She NEVER responded. So I reached out to the main office again and then she reached out. Saying that I would get my info a week prior to the start of the class and to let her know if I hadn’t heard anything. I did just that, and to no surprise, she didn’t reach out to me. So I did what I normally do… contact the main office. Now a day AFTER I was supposed to start my class is when she reached out and I’ll insert photos of our exchange. Mind you, she NEVER once told me I wasn’t accepted into the 9/23 class. And yes I spelled accepted wrong in the email cause I was LIVID after she told me I may be confused …. CONFUSED about what ma’am when there had been no communication on her end. At the end of it all, I’m still waiting on KC Scholars to reach out to me for a new advocate. I blanked out her last name but my advocate(not so advocate) was Antionette.

It's a smart move to take advantage of the KC Scholars program. I think they get requests from folks that may not realize that the program takes dedication and work. Be prepared to work with the folks outside of KC Scholars on your program; I believe Great Jobs is too busy to keep up with everyone. I completed my certificate, so just know it is really up to you.

Wonder program, workshops were very very informative and effective. I highly recommend this program for anyone who is interested and serious about a positive change and impact in their lives; this place has your back and best interests. I am irritated to the max! I sat in orientation that started at 6. At 8:23 I was kicked out and couldn't get back in. Crap happens there should be away to reach out to the instructor to gain access again. I called and left a voicemail, we will see what is next. The games are real.

The worst EVER !! 97%of the programs they offer are not available or do have no schedule to work with you when I thought that was the whole point. Non of the advocates communicate at all you find everything out last minute, they give you options that do not work for you and tell you that’s all they offer. They are literally false advertising bc there are no programs available and I’m so mad bc I was elated to take beginners 4 week classes to even begin my actual classes and they’ve hit me oh were srry the program is not available anymore and this is the 5 program I’ve had to forcibly choose bc they dnt have instructors or it’s just not available when they confirmed it would be weeks ahead of time and they do not communicate at allllllll. Then there’s programs that they are selective about which they dnt even tell you until last min as well. Got people thinking they gon start somethinglike are y’all helping people with new skills or what?
